Joyce Hollander
Joyce Hollander is a multi-award winning Expressionist artist who has had several successful one-person shows and exhibited in numerous juried shows. Some shows were juried by newspaper critics including the New York Times, some by museum curators including the Brooklyn Museum and the Morris Museum, and some juried by art department heads of well-known universities.  Her work was selected in national juried shows sponsored by the Catherine Lorillard Art Club and by the Audubon Society and were exhibited at the National Arts Club in New York City.  Her paintings were also selected for National Juried Shows of Small Works at the gallery of Montclair University. She also exhibited with several national organizations in Chelsea and Tribeca galleries.

She was an invited guest artist with  “The Street Painters” at Lever House, and one summer showed her paintings at Port Authority on Eighth Avenue at 40th Street.  A member of many professional art organizations, her paintings are in numerous private collections.

Born in New York City, she majored in art at Hunter College of the City of New York where she earned a B.A. degree and did post-graduate work at the Brooklyn Museum Art School with William Kienbusch. In New Jersey she studies in a Master Class with Philip Sherrod and paints in oil, acrylic gouache and acrylics, from life, at the studios of the Center for Visual Arts, the Baird Center studio, Riker Hill Art Park and in her own studio. She is a member of the Millburn Short Hills Art Center, Art Centre of New Jersey and the Viridian Print Studio where she creates monotypes.

Her figure paintings capture the energy of life and contrast the isolation of the individual in contemporary society with the inherent desire for human relationships and intimacy. 

Ms. Hollander also enjoys capturing the joyful beauty of flowers with their spirited vitality and radiant color.
